With eCommerce changing at such a rapid pace, there's always the temptation to return to work for someone, just to feel a sense of community, but it comes at the price of freedom. Chorus connects you with other contractors who are vetted as the best in their field - we share insights, continuously learn together and even hang out if we're in the same city (some of us even share co-working spaces!).
Work smarter.
At chorus, we embody all the best parts of an agency whilst still having our own independence. We don't operate in silos like individual contractors - we work off the same collaborative documents (budgets, briefs and reports) so we can align on goals, actions and results and achieve more together. It works so well and we've done it for years.
Take a real break.
Remote work from poolside is great, but it's not a mental break. One of the hardest things about doing it alone is the self-reliance. We feel like we're constantly working, but we all need breaks from time to time. If you need a week or two to switch off entirely, or to take an extended break such as parental leave, there's someone in our network who can gladly look after your clients until you return.
Nothing locked in.
We don't do lock in retainers or contracts because we don't need to - clients stick with us because we offer a higher level of service than anyone else. Meet Kate
eCommerce Marketer & Director of Chorus
I've been self-employed for going on 8 years now and I truly believe that for self-motivated growth marketers, it's a fantastic career choice - but it can also be a wild ride.
I'd worked at agencies for many years previously and I loved the culture and camaraderie. But I struggled with long hours, large, slow and demanding clients and constant staff turnover - agency was an amazing experience but I knew I needed to 'jump ship' and stay the course.
For me, the first few years of contracting brought many highs - autonomy, choosing my clients and specialisation, and earning more to name only a few. But it also brought many lows - the ups and downs of workload, feelings of loneliness and imposter syndrome, a tendency to work 24/7 and fears of stagnation.
Many contractors go back to the comforts of agency. What stopped me? The amazing network I built in eCommerce - of other growth marketers to collaborate with and create our unofficial 'agency' - working together, we do better work for clients, enjoy it more and feel more stability and consistency.
I created chorus to formalise what we do already because it feels like a big secret that I wanted to share. I want to inspire more people to pursue self employment with the support of a team.
